Alder is one of the remote mountains
of Scotland in the heart of the Central Highlands. Approaches are long - a recommended approach is by bicycle from Dalwhinnie. A grand circuit including the long ridge of Carn Dearg, Geall Charn, Aonach Beag & Beinn Eibhinn and also the neighbouring Beinn Bheoil can be made by staying overnight in Ben Alder Cottage.
